We were shown a film in Chemistry about safety in the lab. Weirdly it was presented by Bernard Bresslaw in character from Carry On Cowboy. It was made on the set and featured a few clips - so was a tie-in of sorts to that movie. But it was all about bunsen burners and goggles and don't run holding test tubes. Wild.

Anybody else see it? What was it called? Has it some status in the Carry On canon? Were any similar info films made off the back of big movie productions?

In "Carry On Cowboy", Bernard Bresslaw played the part of a red indian! That would have looked good in a chemistry lab!

Indeed! It was very strange indeed. And he never got near a lab. It was a film about lab safety shot in a wild west town!

I'm amazed nobody else has seen this - surely it did the rounds of late seventies comprehensives? Maybe you're all too young.

I saw it at school around 1982/3, I remember the Carry on Cowboy clips, particularly with Sid James. We all loved those but didn't pay much attention to the H&S bits.

Now that was fun. Sending a 3 foot jet of flame across the bench to try and set your mate alight. Happy days.

I may be old, but we had a lot of fun in chemistry. The school was putting everyone in for the combined physics with chemistry O level but a few of us knew that we were heading for science and engineering so we attended an evening class in chemistry for a bit of extra tuition so that we could do them as separate O levels. As it was with the same teacher as we had in the regular class that meant we were well ahead of the rest of the class and he knew what we were capable of. So we helped him in the class then went off to to work of our own.

And he was not only a good teacher but a bit of "a lad" as well so with his help we got a few good stinks and explosions going
