Glad you like it, Sgt. I chose that one because it has the entire family on it...well, except for the father who was in jail.

Thanks, Tim. There are some nice stills in that set. When I can get around to it, I'll scan and upload another one.

Please do, it would be greatly appreciated. In my totally unbiased opinion this and Walkabout are the best films ever made, ever.

Darrenburnfan, you have posted some great stills on this Thread, The Railway Children, would definitely be in my top 50 of all time favourite films.

That is a great book and also the first version.

I have my photo in that book Billy, sitting with Gary Warren. I managed to get 2 copies signed by all surviving cast memebers. The author has one and I have the other.
I contributed a lot of the material for his page along with Gary himself.

The author is now working on a third book and I will have some inout too. Currently communicating with lionel's grandson, Deddie Davies ( Mrs Perks ), Jenny, Bernard and more to get as much background to it as possible.

Absolutely lovely there. Been every year for past 3 years and going in May for the next Railway Children weekend. Love visiting all the locations and the house.

In the Book (The Making of The Railway Children), on one page, it says the following words - On Monday 1st August 1988, Bernard Cribbins returned to the Railway to film a TV programme called 'Away Day'. This was one of a six part series in which show business personalities are asked to revisit the location of one of their past productions. Bernard chose 'The Railway Children'. The service train hauled by locomotive No 5820 was used for many shots, with additional material filmed after the normal service. His presence at Oakworth did not go unnoticed and station staff even had to erect makeshift crowd-control barriers.

Does anyone remember the above series (Away Day), a series which I would like to see (especially the episode featuring Bernard Cribbins).

I can ask the author if he knows if that would help?

I would be very grateful if you could ask the author of (The Making of The Railway Children), about the series - Away Day, especially the episode which featured Bernard Cribbins.

I have found the transmission date for the episode of Away Day (featuring Bernard Cribbins) on the BFI site - http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/428862

I certainly will. He has been working there since 1984 so will certainly know about it. The railway has been used for many a film and program.
    Will post his response later.

Has anyone else noticed the person who can be seen in the background through the window? A reflection or someone in the office?
BTW the cartman was Deddie Davies ( Mrs Perks) real husband. Sadly no longer with us.

I recall seeing a programme where Murray Melvin returned to the railway arch where he played a scene in A Taste Of Honey. Would that be from the 'Away Day' series?

Yes, you're right, there is someone inside the room (I don't think it's a reflection). I haven't watched the film for some time, but I wonder if they can also be seen during this scene in the actual film, as stills would usually have been taken separately.
