Sounds very Hitchcockian but I don't think it is an actual Hitch. Not one I recognise anyway, which means it would have to be early thirties. Do you have any clue as to when it was made?
A friend has asked me about a film he is trying to recall. His description is as follows -
For the past few days I have been trying to recall a film that I thought might be a Hitchcock(???), its a fuzzy memory I have right now. The plot of film is where a guy meets a woman on train (something financial drew them together later), they become an item, but her past catches up with her and she is killed in hotel room. The whole thing was a scam, as after her death, the same woman does the same thing again (and probably had previously). Its not Stranger on a Train (Hitchcock). I know its very VAGUE, but does it ring any bells....."
I can't come up with a title - Can anyone help us please? Not sure, of course, whether it is British but hope someone will recognise the description.

Any extra information would be of help. That plot has been used a few times ... the most recent film being Denzel Washington's Out of Time.
Bats.
This sounds like Derailed (2005) with Clive Owen

Thanks for those contributions. I don't have any more info but, although I think it is an older film, I also think the Clive Owen 'Derailed' sounds very close to the description. Thanks again for your help.
The "woman being killed twice" thing sounds like Hitchcock's "Vertigo."
Though the meeting on the train sounds like "North by Northwest". Maybe your friend is mixing up two Hitchcocks ?

I 'll second that, I had the misforune to have to sit through this movie at the cinema and the description matches "Derailed" more or less exactly, whether "Derailed" is a remake of another film I don't know, it certainly has the feel of a poor US remake of a superior European film because the idea is quite good and very Hitchcock.![]()
