Can any Bradfordians help identify some locations from this film. I have managed to locate all three houses of the title characters (two have since been demolished - bet you can't guess which ones, it's not that difficult ), the pub in the opening scene, the car park after the Black Lace scene and the taxi office but where are these?

    1) The club where Black Lace perform the ' Gang-bang '.

    2) The house where Bob takes Rita to after luring her from the school yard.

    3) The recreation ground Sue, Aslan and his sister walk past.

    4) The house of Aslan

    Hope someone can help.

The club is actually a pub just near Buttershaw High School, on Reevy Road West, Buttershaw.,it is called the Beacon and is still there. The school is due to be demolished, it is minutes from the Beacon, as are building a new School next door. The house where Bob takes Rita is Brownberry Grove , off Halifax Road, Shelf which is on the border of Halifax and Bradford.(I live minutes away in Shelf) The street was also used in a 80s drama featuring Russ Abbott.I will have to think about the recreation ground, as have not seen the film for a while.Aslan probably lived in the Manningham area of North Bradford.

Thanks for that info hippiedave!. Yes, you're right about which houses are the ones which have been demolished. So exteriors of' The Beacon ' at the start of the film also had interiors done for the Black Lace scene. Must admit never thought of that. Andrea Dunbar actually died in that pub not long after the film was released didn't she.

Hi Kevin, will have to see film again to see if exterior is the Beacon, but is certainly the interior where Black Lace play.Reason I know for sure, as I had been in there a couple of times, it is right next door to the School used in the film soon to be demolished, once the new one is finished. The Beacon is pretty run-down from the outside, but so are the shops nearby.I used to hang out with Andrea Dunbar's brothers a bit in my teens, most of her family were a bit like The Royal Family comedy haha.I knew her slightly, shame what happened to her, I aren;t aware of where she died, only why.The recreation ground you mentioned could be near the Church off Beacon Rd.D

5 Bramham Drive, Baildon. Looks just like it did in the film - an upmarket residential street.

The exterior at least of Bob's house is definately Cloverdale, Shelf, Halifax, just outside Bradford, as I have passed it hundreds of times as only lived mins away. I knew many of the Dunbar's at one time. The Pub is still there but in a terrible state, the school was demolished recently, a new one was built at the side of it.

I have not seen the film for a while but I think the scenes round the taxi firm where sot in Manningham Lane near the old Belle Vue school. The scenes around Aslams house look like they may be one of the terraces that run fron Manningham Lane towards Valley Parade.

Do any of you guys think the premise of this film a bit suspect? When it was 'doing the rounds' my daughter was a teen and I was not impressed with the plot at all. I do not mind the soft porn that marked the 70's but that was one step in the wrong direction. The remake probably would swap babysitting for a forum chatroom.

I recall seeing this on TV and thinking.......Hmmmmmmm ........

From what I recall the movie tended to present the girls as being very much in control of most that went on, whilst the *adult* man cut a somewhat pathetic figure, but it certainly fails the "Would you want your own daughter to do this" test .....

I daresay there are plenty of Rita's and Sue's still out there looking for Mr. Goodbar. I wouldn't exactly call Rita, Sue and Bob Too! (1986) 'gritty realism', as I've seen it described, so much as the sort of thing that 'Skins' has more recently made a riff on............ and that was very popular with youngsters.....
