    Hi,

I can't remember the name of this british mini series and I'm HOPING someone might remember it.

It's about a married woman with children who's sick of being poor and decides to do something about it. She buys an expensive dress, has a friend style her hair and gets a ticket to the opera, where she maneouvres herself to meet a very rich man. She starts dating him and then marries him. They even have a baby together... all the while still being married and carrying on a secret other life with her first husband (who is not pleased by what she's doing). The baby happens to be her first husband's. She even has her children from her first marriage brought to her new house, under the rouse that they are the nannies kids! Eventually she is caught and goes back to her first husband but... she has to keep secret that the baby is not the second husbands AND she's pregnant again... and you get the impression it's probably actually the second husband's baby this time.

It's probably not the best description but if someone can decipher this for me, that would be great. I love these intricate movies with plot twists. If you can tell me which one this is (and perhaps recommend some others) that would be great.

    Thanks so much!

That is a great description but cant think of what it is. If you like that kind of domestic drama you would probably like the `upstairs downstairs, or`when the boat comes in series, Catherine Cookson mini series and kitchen sink dramas like the origional Alfie and `look back in anger` if you havent already seen them already.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the replies. It was a very modern day film. I think it was set in and filmed in the 90s. I wish I could remember more in that regard.

The woman and her husband (and kids) are poor and live in a small place. The man she meets is incredibly rich and has a huge estate. I have a vague recollection that he might have been a lord or a politician but at the least he was very rich. The woman's friend had a hair salon and she goes in and asks her friend to do her hair like a wealthy person would. Although she went in it just for the money, in the end I think she really loved both men.

Anything jog someone's memory? Um, oh yes, another piece of information I remembered. When all is discovered, the woman makes an agreement with the rich man that no one must ever know that the baby she had with him isn't is. In return, he will continue to pay support, etc. Ironically, while she's going to go away and pretend forever that the baby is his, the child she's carrying when she leaves probably IS his but she lets her first husband believe it's his. A bit complicated to write but more self evident when watched of course.

    Thanks again.

Cheers. I remembered it quite vividly when I read the question, just dredged up Keeley Hawes from the dusty old memory. It was brilliant TV although my wife reckons the book is better.
