    The Body Stealers (1969)

"A British military paratrooper disappears in mid-air during a jump from an army plane. Two investigators, Patrick Allen and Neil Connery, try to unravel how this happened. What they uncover is an alien plot to steal the bodies of earthlings by snatching them out of the air."

Hadn't seen this one mentioned. Seems to be a new film showing on Movies4Men 2, Sunday 9th March at 20.25. Sounds like British sci-fi. With Maurice Evans, Allan Cuthbertson (the twitching man from Fawlty Towers) and more.

Poverty row stuff, but not unentertaining. George Sanders was desperate by then.

It's available on DVD In the Tigon Collection released by Anchor Bay.

A terrible movie. Patrick Allen wears the worst cardigan in cinema history. Maurice Evans and George Sanders only have small roles. Allen is the real star.

Incidentally, the DVD is the cut "A" cert version removing all of Lorna Wilde's topless shots. Presumably Movies 4 Men will be showing the same version,

I have this in the Tigon Collection, and managed to get about 15 minutes into it. All I remember was that it had gratuitous women in bikinis and it was bloody awful!

Caught this recently on some obscure channel. Hilarious dialogue, bad (or in some cases no) acting and very limited special effects, but I had to watch it.

The end credits were curious. The main female star, Hilary Dwyer, was missing completely (though she was certainly over the main titles), the character actor Johnny Wade was credited as Johnny Wilde, Larry Dann was Larry Dan and Carol Hawkins was Carolanne Hawkings. Actually I know she has been credited as Carolanne Hawkins, but the addition of the "g" looks like carelessness. And, I didn't actually notice her in the film! There was a girl in a scene at the beginning of the film, with Patrick Allen, that looked nothing much like her but I suppose could have been. Anybody seen it and can tell me?

Isn't this Carol Hawkins? (you're quite correct about the credits)

She does commentaries for those on the latest dvds. I say commentaries - more giggling 'What am I wearing?' for 90 minutes. It's quite endearing though. She shagged Vila in Blake's 7

The Body Stealers is one of the worst British SF movies ever made. I've never got over Patrick Allen's cardigan.

On the Tigon DVD Collection set which was released a couple of years ago. It included The Body Stealers and a commentary from Patrick Allen. Quite interesting to hear actors and producers etc discuss their memories/thoughts of the film etc

The one thing I noticed, that is so daft, I'm surprised nobody else mentioned it is when the flying saucer/spacecraft appears at the end. It is the very same spaceship used in the second Doctor Who movie - Dalek Invasion earth 2150 AD - the one that wobbled across the screen and crashed at the end.
