Does anyone remember A Mind To Kill starring Philip Madoc as the Welsh detective Noel Bain? It was quite good and quite funny as well. As sort of Welsh version of Taggart. I remember one particular episode where a mentally deranged son shoved a rolled up newspaper down his dad's throat.

It was one of Madoc's best recent leading roles

Yes! A fine detective series with the great Madoc as velvet voiced and mercurial Chief Inspector Noel Bain.

Interesting quirky mysteries and a bit of personal drama for Noel, his family and colleagues.

Made for Welsh TV between 94 and 2002 but shown on Five way back - I'd love to see them again.

Towards the end - when his student daughter grew up and became a DC in her dad's squad it did get a bit silly!

Apparantly pretty successful in USA where it rotated with Midsomer and Morse on PSB - shamefully little known here...

It was an excellent series. The opening episode sold it for me.

Weren't most of the episodes shot in both English and Welsh? I enjoyed what I saw of it but it certainly deserved much more publicity and a better slot than it got.

I would love to see "A Mind To Kill" again, but my memory of it was that the setting was unremittingly bleak - always raining, horrible bus stations (Newport I think), unlike "Taggart" which became like an advert for the Scottish Tourist Board, with it's sunshine, countryside and gentrified Glasgow. Does anyone remember another Channel 5 import, "Halifax fp" starring Rebecca Gibney, set in Australia I think (haven't seen that for years, either).

I have eight episodes of this excellent series and I would dearly love to get the rest.

If anyone can help I do have a lot to trade.
