    What is yours?

My favourite is when the hero is presented to the King and/or Queen.

He always has to walk down a long avenue of courtiers.

Everytime that happens I can't help wondering what else the courtiers are expected to do. They can't spend all day in the throne room.

And what about the King? Surely he gets fed up sitting on his throne for hours on end, with a gold brick on his his head and dressed up like a tailor's dummy.

Is there a single film / tv programme involving a slide-show where someone hasn't substituted a picture of a semi-clad lady for the first slide?

True. Somehow I don't think scantily clad ladies were Colpeper's thing

I used to keep a log of the phrase "Try to get some rest", which occurs in about half of all films ever made.

Has there ever been a movie fancy dress party or masked ball where the detective and the criminal, or the murderer and the target, haven't arrived wearing the same costume??? This goes back at least as far as Fantomas (1914).....

Women always scream when they come across a dead body. I think Hitchcock started this in Blackmail. In real life they would probably gasp or express revulsion but not scream.

How many western heroes have a spot of bother while in the barbers having a shave? I would'nt be a barber in the old west, seems more dangerous than being a sheriff.

If you're into Westerns, you'll absolutely love 'Rustlers Rhapsody' starring Tom Berenger. It's a comedy with all the old western cliches beautifully woven into a story. The town drunk, cattle spread, the colonel, the saloon - they're all there. Highly recommended.

RUSTLERS RHAPSODY - DVD *NEW on eBay, also, DVDs, DVD, Film TV (end time 19-Jul-08 10:01:47 BST)

Thanks Earl, I do watch a lot of the old 50's westerns. I'll give Rustler's Rhapsody a try. Sounds good.

I watched it round a mate's house some time ago .... his dad and me are western fans and we found it hilarious. I second Earl's recommendation.
