anyone remember this TV play ?

perhaps it was the fact it was all on location

in the Norfolk Broads that fascinated me and I remember it

( and of course the nude scene )

Was nt there another TV play....... Rock of Ages ? or something

set in Cheddar Gorge, again, all outdoor location

(by that guy with the skin problem )

I think the writers of these two plays are pretty big fish

in theatre and TV ( just can t think of their names ! )

This is Way Upstream by Alan Aykbourn. The male actor is Nick Dunning.

    Have a look at

    Way Upstream (1987) (TV)

Also there has been another thread on this a few months back, which I looked up. So your thanks must go to Bristol UK who identified this originally.

    Regards

    Freddy

thanks, 1987 , that seems about right

(well worth another showing again , but will it happen ? )

(why don t they put these gems on podcast somewhere ? )

Now, I wonder if anyone can nail the Cheddar Gorge play

that was filmed in outside location at the gorge .

    (maybe it was around 1969 ? )

Do you mean "A Beast with Two Backs" ?

It was filmed (well, the exteriors were) in the Forest of Dean, near Dennis Potter's birthplace.

The story is apparently based on a local legend, that Potter adapted for his own purposes - sexual obsession and degradation, now there's a surprise !

thanks , you ve hit on the name Denis Potter

but this play Im thinking of must have been in the

sixties and was probably in black and white ?

It was filmed on location in Cheddar Gorge and was

basically a family outing in a car and the teenage boy

having an encounter with a well endowed young lady

(you see, Denis was sex obsessed even back then ! )

Ah, I think it must be this one "The Gorge", written by Peter Nichols.

    oops my wires are crossed

I thought it was an early Denis Potter play and that

reply about Denis confirmed me in my error

Hmm Peter Nichols, interesting, Ill have to google

that name and do a bit of research

thanks, well done for nailing one of my fond memories !

But it was nt 64, there must have been a replay

    in 68 or 69
