I have just been reading another forum on the death penalty and it raises issues which show just how varied our views can be.

Is the system getting so bad that a person who has killed someone can be given a sentence that is far shorter than a couple who defraud an insurance company?

Even when people are sent to prison there seems to be nothing in place to help them stop offending.

The prisons are at the point of bursting but nothing is being done.

Prison works for a few believe me but for some it is a second home where they are given 3 meals a day, clean clothes,a roof over their heads and friends(so called).

What they havent got is family, love and real friends. So for them they have nothing to lose.

I will tell you a true story of sentences and this is not a joke.

A friend was talking about sentences in prison and one person had killed and cut up his wife.(4 years) another had killed his friend and was caught with the head in a carry bag on him. (3 years).

My friend cut up ford transits and got 7 years. Some punishment.

If I could work out a system of tarriffs ,why on earth cant our goverment ?

I also believe I could run the prisons better and I also believe that so could a lot of you ,run them better.

Money has always carried a bigger sentence over human life in general.Thats the world we live in and a not guilty can be bought(O.J.Simpson).

Why do we believe that the police know what they are doing when most of the time they are experts in nothing.

Theres a police officer who's written a book on a gem raid he stopped in progress. Who's to say he didnt set it up?

A women gets throw on a railway line and thank god she was ok but what sentence will the culprits get if caught?

Is it me or am I just wrong in thinking that things are getting out of hand.

    Please tell me.

Personally I would lock myself into a room from which all the sharp objects have been removed and have a dem good thresh abite on the carpets for about four months until it has worked itself off.

    Or orf.

    Doesn't that feel better, already?

Yes, its a mad world! We have had debates like this before. The law IS an ass! People seem to get ridicuously long sentences for trivial things and short sentences for torturing an old person and even muder!

i don't care what anybody says otherwise but the death sentence IS a deterrent as should be brought back for serial killers and people like that mad kidnap/rape dad in austria when DNA evidence is conclusive.

other murderers such as the youths who beat that dad to death in front of his daughter should be in prison for life.

hoodie teenage yobs arrested for violent crime/theft/criminal damage should be made to serve 5yrs in the army.

anybody done for fraud should be made to do community service in the daytime and live in a special debtors prison until they have completed their time.

foreign immigrants convicted of any crime to be deported.

any crimes such as road crimes that have not resulted in death or injury should be dealt with by the imposing of a heavy fine.

this way potential offenders would think twice about committing any sort of crime never mind re-offend. anyway,i'm off to trim my nice thin hitler moustache!

    Hi.

Not that I dont agree with you Jaycad because I do (and I dont think you are a Hitler!) but if the death penalty IS a deterent I just wonder why the crime rate in America is still extremely high?

because the americans like to out-do everybody else!!! seriously though,i imagine that if the U.S.A. had the same lax laws as in britain it would be lot higher-i dread to think what britain would be like if it had the relaxed gun laws of many of the states of america!

Yep, well, that's a convesation killer right there.

No matter how wrong you may be or what evidence anybody could present - you'll hang on to your views.

No need to talk to you then, is there?

For the record: if you want to use execution as a deterrent - bring it in for illegal parking, it'll be 100% effective.

If you think you can deter psychopatic killers, the desparate, the obsessed or the deranged - you are just plain wrong.

    Have a nice day.
