Finally some good news for toppled Countdown Queen Carol Vorderman. The brainy beauty has come top of a new poll to find the most alluring partner. But we’re not just talking any old hook-up here: no, Carol can now lay claim to the somewhat niche title of “most desired partner for ‘thinking’ lesbians”.
The equation-crunching glamourpuss came up trumps in a survey conducted for gay dating website gay-parship.com. Hot on her stiletto heels came Newsnight temptress Kirsty Wark and Dame Joan Bakewell, 75, once famously dubbed "the thinking man's crumpet" by comedian Frank Muir.
“But what about the guys?” we hear you whimper. Well, the desirable male of choice for the “thinking gay man” is apparently carrot-topped BBC newsman Andrew Marr. Indeed, Auntie Beeb’s newscasters scored pretty highly, with bullish Jeremy Paxman coming in a respectable third after Steven ‘national treasure’ Fry. Theoretical physics beefcake Steven Hawking scraped a respectable 5th place with 8% of the vote.
However, most surprising of all has to be an appearance in the poll by Vanessa Feltz. Yes, the daytime chat show star scored a respectable 4%. In the women’s category, obviously.
We’ll expect a second poll revealing that 4% of “thinking lesbians” are deaf and blind to surface any day now…

A bloke on local radio said he'd been a Countdown contestant and he said that in person she's nothing like as she appears on the programme. But he didn't say in what way!!! Confused!
