Another old black and white murder mystery I'm trying to remember the title of. Someone is murdered at a boys bording school and there is something to do with a dark-haired girl in a school photo that may have played the cello?

It could be Take My Life. A boy's boarding school is a prominent part of the film but the murder (that of the music teacher's string playing wife) takes place elsewhere. A photograph of the dead woman is a clue in this film as well. The stars are Hugh Williams, Greta Gynt and the great Marius Goring. Rosalie Crutchley plays the murdered wife.

There are no female cello players in either UNMAN WITTERING AND ZIGO (see my review on this very site) or ABSOLUTION. TAKE MY LIFE sounds far more likely.

Not strictly female though, though I see how the drag might have confused someone. But it's not black and white, and there's no photograph involved.

This is definetly Ronald Neame's 1947 film "Take my life" with Hugh Williams, Greta Gynt, Marius Goring, Francie L. Sullivan and, (in the part of the cello player), Rosalie Cructhley. The plot twists include Greta Gynt spotting the cello player on a school photo where Marius Goring is the headmaster.
