After a long wait i've finally found two mint condition dvd sets of the Hammer House Of Mystery Suspense Series.
I can't wait to watch these as my earliest televison memories are from the episodes 'Tennis Court' and 'Childs Play' Hope they don't disapoint now
I've just finished watching the Hammer House Of Horror boxset. The episode 'The Silent Scream' Starring Brian Cox Is absoluely excellent.

Me too love that one and the house that dripped blood.![]()
264.99
I guess this is OOP and that is why the price is set at this ?
Crazy as I am looking for this series.:-(
Have a small discount:
Hammer House Of Mystery And Suspense - Complete Collection - DVD - zavvi UK![]()
Hammer House Of Mystery And Suspense series only got iirc 1, or at most 2 airings on TV- and was far superior to the regularly shown Hammer House Of Horror
I ordered this over a month ago from Forbidden Planet. The site said there would be a two week delay but it still hasnt arrived.![]()
Unfortunatly dvd's are sold by the bucket load one year then they delete them and they get hard to find The amazing Mr Blunden comes to mind, it was available last year for 5 in HMV now it has been deleted copies are going for up to 60 on ebay sad really.
If anyone has the series, can they confirm from the packaging whether the series was produced only by Hammer, or whether it was co-produced with Fox.
I know that Fox were involved with the series, including copyright and distribution in America, but I am trying to ascertain if they are actually credited as co-producers. There is conflicting information on IMDB, BFI and elsewhere on the Internet.
i was (and am still) terrified of the hammer house of horror episodes 'growing pains' and 'the house that dripped blood'-i want to watch them again when they get repeated on ITV3 but can't bring myself to! i can't remember watching hammer house of mystery and suspense.
I have the two individual boxsets that were originally released and there is nothing on the packaging that mentions Fox....the credit is for Hammer Film Productions Ltd.
On the actual DVD's though, when the title caption comes on the screen, credit is for Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
I believe the series was known as Fox Mystery Theater when aired in The States.
I'm delighted that the mid 1980s Hammer TV series has been released on DVD.
There have been so many queries in the forums - that end up being answered "Tennis Court" - or some other Hammer episode.
Clearly this series, however uneven, made a real impact, scaring kids all around the world.
i still can't find this series in its entirety for a fair price-250 for the boxset,48 for volume 1 and 24 for volume 2 separately!
why when 'hammer house of horror is so readily available for 30?

It's a bit late to correct this one, I know, but I believe the episode in question was actually called The House that Bled to Death.
HMV just cancelled my order for Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense on account of its OOP. I thought 17.99 was too good to be true when it is going for silly money elsewhere. It's not THAT good and I prefer to spend my DVD-fenced cash elsewhere with other items on my huge wants list. It is possibly however that some remainder DVD retailer does have it at a reasonable price if you're willing to browse - but not at 200+ ...
Btw the Hammer House of Horror set is well worth getting with nice transfers and not too bulky a box so it doesn't take up too much room on the old shelves.

i've been browsing for ages and it seems that the only complete boxsets for sale are the extortionate ones advertised on ebay and amazon, the series volume 2 seems to be available for around 25 but volume 1 is scarce! i had the same problem last year with 'the duchess of duke street' where series 2,3 and 4 were available for 8.99 each whilst series 1 was 89!
i've got the 'hammer house of horror' series(great fun!) and i'm sure 'mystery and suspense' will turn up eventually!
I think Hammer House Of Mystery And Suspense is much better than Hammer House Of Horror.
Some of the stories are a bit padded but the general standard is higher overall.
Update: I now have both volumes of this at a total of 45. Hope it is worth it!
