Possibly The Landlady from the first series of Tales of the Unexpected first transmitted in April 1979.
I have a vague recollection of a programme I watched one night when I was a child. It started off very pleasantly but ended up extremely eerie and surreal. All I remember was a seemingly harmless, friendly lady who was some sort of hotel keeper or landlady. I remember her chatting to a young man who had booked in, but the tone changed when at the end it is revealed that the hotel keeper had been murdering all of her tenants. Would love to find out what this was as it freaked me out as a liitle kid!

SM was also brilliantly creepy in Daughter of Darkness, another great film from the under-rated Lance Comfort. Oh yes, Max is in it too.![]()
I watched "Daughter of Darkness" again a few nights ago. It has quite an atmospheric look about it and features some good locations. It's well worth watching if you haven't seen it.
Thanks guys for all your input. I have looked into it and it is indeed The Landlady (Tales of the Unexpected). Although there were a few let down episodes, there were some generally creepy episodes, especially the early years.
Many thanks.![]()
