Can someone clear up a confusion?

Great to see Six Dates with Barker from 1971 released on DVD which includes the first version of this classic madcap.

However, when looking up the differences between this and theTwo Ronnies version I came across IMDB which states that John Cleese wrote the original. The BFI state that Milligan alone wrote the original and that tallies with my recollection. I believe the Two Ronnies version was Milligan again but with additional material by Barker.

Is the IMDB just in error in this case or did Cleese have anything to do with it?

I've never heard that John Cleese had anything to do with it. You can't believe everything you read on IMDB !

Apparently the person who is actually blowing the raspberries is David Jason.

I'd never heard of a John Cleese connection. David Jason blew the raspberries though :-)

It could well be that the IMDb is wrong (I'll ask)

They have the whole series of Six Dates With Barker as written by Ronnie Barker, Hugh Leonard, Bernard McKenna & Spike Milligan. That's at the series level.

But then each episode seems to have John Cleese added as a writer

It's possible that a fan of his is. I'll ask the IMDb staff to investigate who added Cleese as a writer, if they have any supporting evidence and if they also added him as a writer to anything else at about the same time - they should be checked as well

    An IMDb contributor reports:

The Radio Times Guide to TV Comedy has a different writer for each episode, with Cleese as the writer of episode #1.5 only. I've submitted the relevant additions and deletions.
