Could it have been Fabian of the Yard from the 50s?

If it was "Fabian of the Yard", it starred Bruce Seton.

Answered thanks to my elder brother it was called On Trial 1960 i`ve checked on the IMDB and it`s the one, 10 episodes, narrated by Andrew Faulds.

A series of real trials from British history, famous and notorious, dramatised from the court records.

Now the question is anyone know if it still exists, regards Dave

Lostshows.com suggests that it does indeed still exist in the archives.
