The second film you mention could be Rotten to the Core (1965) with Anton Rogers doing the impersonations.
I saw both these films some years ago and have been trying to find them ever since . The first one was a train robbery involving stealing gold. It was black and white (I think) and I remember the thieves trying to break through the panels of their compartment into the compartment where the gold is kept. I have googled the gold train but can't find anything. And I'm sure it is not the Great Train Robbery.
The other film is a group of crims that impersonate various professionals/trades to pull off their various scams. I think it had some of the carry on actors in it but it wasn't a carry on movie.
Thanks for any help

That's the one I was going to suggest too Wadsy.
If it helps identify the film Floss, Vernon Gray plays a newspaper reporter who has to cover the story of the transportation of the gold bullion - on his wedding night!
Dave.
Gold Express does sound like it could be it. Thanks everyone. Any further ideas about the the 2nd film?
First one is "THE FLYING SCOT" 1957 stars B-film great Lee Patterson and my fav Alan Gifford. Written by Carry-On king Norman Hudis and directed by Compton Bennett. AKA in USA as "THE MAILBAG ROBBERY".
The second Film might be Too Many Crooks (1958) With George Cole, Sidney James and Bernard Bresslaw doing the impersonations.
The Flying Scot definitely sounds like it is the one. The clincher is that the crooks break through the panels into the other compartment. Sorry, I thought is was gold they were after but apparently my memory isn't too good![]()
