Yes, I'll be getting one of those I think.

The best/craziest piece of marketing like that was when Criterion started releasing some of their DVDs with a "Special Edition" sticker on them.
Someone asked me what was special about the ones with the sticker so I investigated.
They contained exactly the same print of the film and the same extras as those without the "Special Edition" sticker.
So I asked Criterion.
They initially claimed that all their editions were special.
But I then asked why they didn't have a "Special Edition" sticker on all of them, what was special about these few with the sticker on?
They replied "They're special because they've got a sticker on"
You have to admire their cheek

Yes, I must admit Network do well at this sort of thing.
We purposely added some extra interviews to this--Brian Degas was excellent--and tidied up a few bits and pieces as well.
The last edit I saw came in at just over 2 hours, so it should be good value for money.
Carlton used to be quite naughty with multiple releases.
First they'd release a DVD with just the film on it.
Then, a short while later they'd release a DVD with the same print of the same film, but with a few extras on it as well

I think its a good idea when punters already have full sets of the shows in some format or another and the documentaries are the only part of the new sets that they have missing. However, it is frustrating for those who buy the new sets only to see extended versions of the documentaries released a year or so later. Maybe if the buyer can prove that they have the sets, they should get a discount on the exclusive documentary release? Hard to prove, but it would be fairer.

How much time is spent on ROTS, as I'm not that interested in the remake, only the original Moore episodes?
I've not seen the final edit but my ROTS piece came in at a tad over 40 mins. We've shuffled a few things around and added the new interviews but I suspect the overall ratio hasn't changed that much

I challenged Carlton on that many years ago. Their explanation was that they put the first pressing of just the film out to see how well it would go, and whether sales would justify a 'special edition'...![]()
I did point out that this is somewhat cart-before-the-horse, as those who wanted the film would have got the first edition anyway! For my pains they did send me a freebie SE, as my original letter was to gripe about their cashing in by working that way round.

I should have tried that
I've got a few "duplicates" where I've got the DVD with and without the extras

This is for members who know every detail of the Monochrome and Colour boxsets.
I have got as far as the beginning of Series 2 - The Fellow Traveller - and know that there are (pretty disappointing) image galleries for the episodes I've seen. However, I have occasionally had a few glimpses of the later volumes and can't find any galleries. I'd be enormously grateful if anyone could help me out here, partly out of curiosity bur also as reference for future posts.
