the film about bobby sands called 'hunger' is directed by steve mcqueen!
Whilst watching A Bridge Too Far,an actor called Colin Farrell appeared in it. Obviously not the same as the Irish actor, but I commented that the first Colin Farrell perhaps isn't working anymore as an actor, that is why the young Farrell can still use the name. However,it appears that Farrell the elder is still acting, appearing in Kingdom last year. I thought no two working actors can have the same name, thus why the Brit born James Stewart had to change his name to Stewart Granger.
Incidently, there was an actor from the silent period called Harrison Ford - a bit like the present Harrison Ford, who in interviews doesn't say much.

The original Harrison Ford was a pretty decent, if unremarkable leading man; best remembered for co-starring with Marion Davies in the films produced by her lover, William Hearst, in New York; they all moved to Hollywood later.
Harrison was well known enough to have his star on the Walk of Fame; which meant, IIRC, the current Harrison had to wait until the nineties to get his, as so many people assumed he already had one.....
There was some confusion when Simon Day - link (well known on stage in London) turned up in Doctor Who and various sources assumed he was the Simon Day from the Fast Show. But I noticed that the first Simon Day has now rebranded himself as Simon Paisley Day (which is a bit tough on him as I bet he joined Equity first)
When the young David Bradley made the film Kes, I seem to remember reading at the time that, because there was already an actor with the same name, he became known as 'Dai' Bradley for a while.
I believe that he is now known as "David Bradley II".
...and, of course, Michael Keaton's real name is Michael Douglas. The question is - what is Michael Douglas's real name?![]()

Kirk did ... Michael has always been Michael. You should read The Ragman's Son (Kirk's autobiography).

The IMDb puts Roman numerals in brackets after a name if there are two or more people with the same name, so they refer to David Bradley from Kes as "David Bradley (II)". But I don't think he's ever appeared under that name.
Incidentally, they have records of 14 people (so far) called David Bradley
But then again, they have records of 4 people called Steve Crook

Not to be confused with Mike Douglas, the late popular talk show host.
Batman,
Re your opening mail on this thread, the no duplicate names rule doesn't apply to Directors and anyone else behind the camera.
