Could this be [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Golden-Years-British-Comedy-40s/dp/B0009KKW9A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1227159535&sr=8-1"]The Golden Years of British Comedy[/ame]?
Hi everyone
I'm trying to find a copy of Heroes of Comedy which featured many different comedians e.g. Billy Bennett, Nat Jackley, Max Wall, Little Tich, George Robey to name but a few, with commentaries by current comedians between acts. Can anyone help me?
(I have to confess I mistakenly put this on the Film questions. Ooops)
Sorry about that but I was a bit too eager to get my questions on.

I have several episodes from a Heroes of Comedy series - Max Miller, Sid James, Hattie Jacques, Hancock, Alastair Sim, Joyce Grenfell and maybe a couple more.
Hard to tell if it's the same set referred to by the Captain.
There is also a New Heroes of Comedy which features several people I've never heard of.

The one I linked to certainly has plenty of talking heads as well as clips. Is there anyone you're particularly interested in ? I have the dvd and could check.
I have this it's the original documentary from which the series sprung...it runs for about 2hrs and was transmitted on New Years Eve 1992.
Thanks for the offer but the one I'm after is lots of old clips on the one edition of "Heroes of Comedy"

Yes, yes. That's the one. Not that I could remember the details of when it was transmitted but I'm sure that's it.
Please can you tell me how to get a copy of it?![]()
If it's the double lenght "Veriety Years" episode you're looking for I have it on disc.

I can't find a more suitable thread to post this (he's mentioned in the first post). From the 4-10 August 1979 TVTimes:
Beatles fans will remember Nat as Rubber Man in Magical Mystery Tour. I'd like to see the Screenplay series released.
That play was an early vehicle for Victoria Wood and Julie Walters. Two weeks later came Waxwork, the pilot for Cribb.
