Satan's Slave (1976)

Last night I watched Satan's Slave (1976 - Dir Norman J. Warren), which I had recorded on BBC1 about 18 months ago. It was a bit dull (cheesy British horror/soft porn), but just as an interesting plot twist was developing, my recording ended.



Catherine, the heroine, had discovered that her uncle was trying to bring his wife back from the dead by making a human sacrifice. Catherine had escaped being sacrificed and ran back to the house. The uncle then persuaded Catherine that it had all been a dream, and her father, whom she had seen die in her 'dream', appeared and reassured her that everything was alright.



However, Catherine then pulled aside a curtain to reveal the body of her cousin, whom she had killed in her 'dream' while escaping the sacrifice (she stabbed him through the eye with a nailfile - nice!). At this point my recording ended.



So how did her father survive the fireball following the car crash? Was he working in league with her uncle? Anyone know?

I first thought that Catherine's father was brought back from the dead by his brother but now I think he was in on it all the time,otherwise why wasn't his faced burnt?

The BBC version you saw was a very badly cut down version (a fuller version is on the Norman J.Warren Coffin Box Set )



A much nastier notorious "Japanese" version of the *bedroom scene* is still floating around on European video releases, if you can find it.



"However, the stronger "alternate Bedroom Scene" on "Satan's Slave" (=Martin Potter cuts the girls clothing off with scissors and passes the scissors over her body in a threatening manner before she throws him off and attempts to escape, which is when he kills her) did indeed run into problems with the BBFC, hence its deletion from the list of extras.



The Director Norman J.Warren himself stated that the bedroom scene was not one that he ever wanted to shoot, and was forced on him by the producers, hence he left it out of his cut of the film. The BBFC then rejected ABUK's decision to include it as a bonus feature"

Looks like this might be the edited version again as it's scheduled to run from 2:00 to 3:25 AM and according to the IMDB, the UK cut version runs for 86 minutes.

Have seen the totally uncut version of this film (about two years ago). It was a VHS copy from Midnight Video (based in America). It showed the hard version of the bedroom scene - very hard to watch - made me feel uncomfortable.
