The answer is The Spongers (1978), but I don't know that Bill Dean was in it.
Euryale.
OK this was a TV either play or film, it starred Bill Dean (of Brookside fame)who is a relative or freind of a woman who has 5 kids one of them being a downs syndrome, the social services do their best to try and take the kids off her as she is a single parent and cannot support her brood, the final scene's are heartbreaking as she puts an overdose of sleeping tablets in her and her kids cocoa at night.
It had Ken Loach all over it but cannot find any info in IMDB site about it, may have been a play for today episode.
Bottom line is I need a copy of this as my wife still talks about it to this day, was made possibly mid to late 70s but can't be sure of actual year
Thanks in advance.![]()
