Doing MGM research today - found out that "Light in the Piazza" had to use a British swimming pool due to bad weather in Italy - thought I'd check this out and...

So as we first thought we're looking in the Borehamwood/Hertsmere district?

A couple of guesses. Kendall Hall Country Club in Radlett or Selsdon Park in Surrey ?

Not Kendal Hall - they had their swimming pool built in the walled garden, seen in "Kill or Cure", "The Avengers" and "The New Avengers"

Selsdon Park has the right sort of landscape - current outdoor pool fairly conventional, no sign of the large 1930's house seen in the background of the publicity photo.

I'm sure this must have appeared in 'Country Life' as it is such an impressive pool.

There may be clues in this book if anyone has it:

'Piazza' was filmed in June 1961, the Danger Man episode was filmed between 20th April and 1st May 1964

It might just be that someone from MGM working on the Danger Man was familiar with the location in 'Piazza' rather than it being 'local'.

I had another look at the pool today - there may be a tower in the distance - or a thin tree.

    My thought - Brookmans Park

I take it that you have looked on Google Maps at every open air swimming pool withing a two mile radius of the Brookmans Park Transmitting Station?

Not yet - there seem to be a lot more pools in the area than you would think.

It would be easier to count the houses that haven't got pools in Brookman's Park.

Yes, I know, I spent about 90 minutes checking every one I could find and it was a lot. But then I thought, Tony will have already done this.

To be honest I've not put too much time into it recently - I've been watching Tod Slaughter films as part of my MGM British research.
