Marlon Brando in The Nightcomers plus the countless US actors, some of whom were once big stars, who came over here in the 50s to help boost their careers ... eg Brian Donlevy in Quatermass Experiment and Quatermass 2.

How many USA actors filmed UK scenes in A Bridge Too Far?

Also is Vincent Price most prolific USA actor to work in UK?

Just about every crime film of the 50s seemed to contain an American and was made on location as it was cheaper than using a studio.Richard Widmark is in Night in The city which is on sky tonight at 6.45 i think.

Thanks for that Orpheum, I was going to buy NITC a few months ago but seemed a dear price, I'll tape it instead

Richard Widmark - Who Dares Wins

    Brigitte Fonda - Scandal

Lee Remick - Omen, plus a film I don't recall the title but she's a Doctor and commits suicide at the end (though I'm aware she lived in England at the time)

    Faye Dunaway - Wicked Lady

Kevin Costner - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio - Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

Jayne Mansfield - Too hot to handle

Marilyn Monroe - Prince and the Showgirl

Matthew Modine - Full Metal Jacket

Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman - Eyes wide shut (set in the USA but much filmed in England I believe)

    Brad Pitt - Snatch

Samuel L Jackson rented the house next door to mine whilst making 51st State. I had no idea until I bumped into my ex-neighbour and he told me. Sadly this was sometime after Mr Jackson had finished the film, so I never got to see him.

Entirely separately, went into a bar in London with friends ordered a drink and smiled at the lady next to me when our eyes met. It was Susan Sarrandon. Makes up for not meeting Mr Jackson.

Anybody else had someone so near and yet so.....

If you use the search facility you can find a thread devoted to it ....

Back on topic, re The Omen, the remake would offer us Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles.

The basic answer to the OP's contention "I suspect there are not many" is that really there are thousands of them
