Can anyone recall an episode of this fine drama and which one it was where Mrs. Bridges lectures Ruby on 'eyes' in Potatoes, and that they have to be removed.......Mrs. Bridges holds up a Potatoe and says to Ruby "see that, that's a (h)eye"!

I don't think it's Ruby that Mrs Bridges lectures. The episode I can recall is Noblesse Oblige, the year is 1928 or 1929. It's the episode where Ruby leaves Eaton Place because Mrs Bridges is constantly at her. Ruby eventually goes to work for a snobby and loathsome lady played by Joan Sanderson. At Eaton Place, they hire a tarty young girl called Mabel, she has to peel some potatoes, Mrs Bridges comes to inspect and she tells Mabel that the potatoes have 'eyes' and shows Mabel how to peel them off. Needless, to say Mabel doesn't last long and neither does things work out for Ruby, Mrs Bridges goes round to her new employers and has a go at Joan Sanderson. Mrs Bridges returns to Eaton Place with Ruby.

Thank you for clarifying Joe........the episode with the great Joan Sanderson has come back to me now!......I think it was one of the later 1920's episodes, I remember Joan's friend commenting on "big strapping girls collecting the Dole"!

I agree it's a great site Faginsgirl!.........love the green backing so much I painted the Lounge in the same colour!

I'm an UD fan and always have been, though I feel it was never quite the same after Rachel Gurney left the series as she didn't want to be typecast, though she regretted her decision later.........

It was very popular in the USA. FLying home from Frisco in 1993,my neighbour told me a channel was having a Upstairs Downstairs marathon. I liked it.

Can anyone point me to an episode in which one of the ladies was out riding/hunting and had the horse bolt with her? I suspect it may have been an early one.

Edit: It's OK - I think I've found it from that link. I think it's series 3, episode 8, The Bolter. You see, the horse that bolted - well, I used to ride her. Her name was Prudence.
