The original picture has been deleted but I'm pretty sure that the actor playing the driver is John Quentin.

Claire Bloom's character name is changed for the film - from Wikipedia:
"Liz Gold" in the novel, is changed to "Nan Perry," supposedly because the producers were worried about out-of-context quotes of Burton from the film being used in reference to his real-life wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Taylor.
This change possibly happened at a stage after the preparation of the tie-in book. Changes during shooting are often missed in promotional material prepared earlier to coincide with the film release.

Another example is the Get Carter tie in book which has the early production title "Carter" - with no "Get"!

Watching the clip in the OP just now, I had the strange thought of how Tara Fitzgerald resembles Claire Bloom.........

Just back from seeing a nice print of this at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. It was the second half of a John Le Carre double bill the other flick being "The Looking Glass War", which I couldn't get to. Reasonably well attended - over 60 punters. Glad I went.

I noticed a couple of parodies of the title while browsing on YouTube - an episode of Cheers called The Spy Who Came In For A Cold One and a Monkees episode called The Spy Who Came In From The Cool.
Dont forget the best one: Dangermouse: The Spy Who Came In With a Cold.

As Burton is my favourite actor, I am biased, but age and repeated showings do not dim this superb film.
