hi wonder if anyone can help,a film i have been trying to pin down for years but have never seen since,it was a horror film made in black and white, and in the final scenes it involved a guy who had to pass the main actor a piece of paper with some hyrogliphics on it,or he would die,he was successful doing this disguised as a newspaper seller at a railway station, sliding the document into the newspaper, which then ending with the main actor dying on the railway tracks, cant remember who the actors where but if any body can help i would be really greatfull regards steve

Amazing how easy it is to be totally forgiving of the rather corny special effects of the Demon himself and just allow the suspense to swallow you up. Even for a 50 year old film they did a great job of giving that strip of paper a life of its own. Right from the opening scenes of Stonehenge this one gives me the creeps. It leaves its TV remake "Casting The Runes" far behind. I really think horror works far better in black & white.
Night of the Demon is certainly better than the Yorkshire TV adaptation, but IMHO the original story is still best:

I'm probably alone thinking this but I've remained impressed by the effects in Night of the Demon since I first saw it about 35 years ago. The creature is visually striking and seems far removed from contemporary horror and sci-fi creatures. The audio effects are also impressive. Tony Earnshaw's book
Beating the Devil - The Making of NOTD is worth seeking out for fans of the film, though it is revealed that the creature was forced upon the production by the producer for commercial reasons, leaving Tourneur very unhappy.
