    Indeed ??

That's the charge Woodgate was found guilty on, and Bowyer cleared of...and they were pretty vile, according to your earlier post...

Aye, I can live with Gerrard. Racist scumbags is something else.

I hold no brief for racist scum - which is why I'm proud to support Leeds; we gave Black players a chance to perform way before other clubs would... RIP Albert Johannson.

That was the closest a Leeds player got to the cup that year!

    Another magic moment ...

... I suppose that was a foul or offside as well.

    What's going on here then?

Hang on a minute .... that number 11 looks suspiciously offside to me.

Joe Jordan found himself in exactly the same position as Dennis Tueart when he was given offside for Peter Lorimer's 'goal' in the 1975 European Cup Final. Then of course Jeff Astle was famously offside for West Brom in 1971 that cost "Dirty Leeds" the league title. But of course that's perfectly fair.

Did Leeds ever lose a match in which the opposition scored legitimate goals .... from the comments on this thread it would appear not!

ps - I promise not to mention Liverpool's Champions league semi-final 'goal' against Chelsea ... damn, I just did

Penfold, do you have any idea as to how much earlier did Albert Johannson join Leeds United before Johm Charles joined West Ham ? That is assuminng he did join Leeds before Charles became a Hammer ?

Well, unlike Liverpool, Revie's Leeds lost so infrequently, that when they did it stood out like a sore thumb. When Uefa's own official history website mentions the appalling refereeing we were subjected to in the '73 and '75 finals, even you have to give it some credence.

I remember the games and the decisions were appalling, especially the Lorimer/Jordan 'goal'. It just amused me that out of three pics I posted two featured 'dubious' goals.

John Charles - the West Ham player, not to be confused with The Gentle Giant, the greatest player ever to pull on a set of boots - made his first team debut for the Hammers in May '63. Albert Johanneson made his Leeds debut in April 1961.

Great player. Not the first black player in English top-flight, but the first to make any impact, and the first to play in the FA Cup Final.
