I saw this movie on PBS television years ago before vcr's and dvd recorders were as popular as they are now. Here goes What I remember of the movie it was probably in the early-mid 1980's about car racing. The main player in the movie came upon a blind fellow that drove (I believe it was )a mid 70's charger through his property in the dark(no lights on) and almost ran the main guy down. He knew where he was by counting then turned around and went back to his house. That is about all I can remember of the movie. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it!!!!

    Thanks in advance to all!

Apart from seeing them at about the same time - were there any other connections between the two films?

No I guess not other than they were both British movies,I just threw that out there to see if it would jog anybodys memory. The main guy had his own car until the rival racers broke into it,started it up and blew the motor up in it, then the blind guy let him use his car to race them.IIRC the main guy won the race with the blind guys car.

    Thanks,

This has made me curious. I saw just about everything worth seeing on PBS at that time. Was it a series? Almost all of those films were presented as part of a series.

Which PBS affiliate did you view it on? Was is WNET out of NYC? You are in PA - was it a Philadelphia or Pittsburgh affiliate? You might be able to obtain the schedule.

No I don't think they were a series unless they were a British movie series for the week/ month.

But it has been a fairly long time ago....

I'm in the Pittsburgh PBS affiliate area.I live an hour north of Pittsburgh.

I'll try to get the schedule but I doubt they hold onto them for 20 plus years!

    Thanks for the responses!!

Well, you never know with those PBS types. They love their films!

Also, the schedule may be on the internet.

Another idea - and I know this may not be worth it, but if you happen to be in a good library.....

Are you familiar with The New York Times index volumes? They are large red annual volumes that contain an alphabetized index of everything published that year. And I do mean everything. I have looked up many things there.

Of course that may be going too far! But just a thought.

    Thanks for the responses!!

    You're welcome!

I know this is from the dead but I thougt I would give it another try.
This film may have possibly been an Australian film.....I cannot recall the exact accent I may have been wrong in calling this movie a British film....anyone else new want to give it a try??
I can remember the blind guy talking to the younger main guy about his(young guy's) car sayin it sounded like "sweet thunder"(the main guys car was stolen and the engine blown up by the gang he was going to race against the night before the race so the blind guy gives him his car an old school(70's) mopar possiby a super bird or charger to do the race)
