I think the original poster meant Britmovie is a great site (obviously!) as I added the link after her second message.

By the way, do I get a 'Best Answer' credit on this? Only my second in nearly 2, 000 posts!

Yes, that's him, when he was very young, with Alan Barnes, who has a thread here actually. I remember Roy playing a friend of Ronnie Corbett in the sitcom Sorry, and of Hywel Bennett in the (very different!) film version of Joe Orton's Loot. Haven't seen him for a very long time.

I last saw him in Fantabulosa as a workman drilling a hole in the road outside Michael Sheen's flat.

Yes, Roy has had quite a prolific and varied career. I remember the Steptoe episode - the models were quite happy to get undressed in front of Harold as they thought he was blind because he wore dark glasses - he'd actually put them on to look chic!

Playing the models were Madeline Smith, Sally Farmiloe (who recently came up on another thread), and Ava Cadell, who I think did some Page 3, then some screen roles in the States before becoming a sexologist!

    Roy Holder in later years:

He was in Sense & Sensibility last year, although I didn't see it. Oddly enough, he was in the 1995 TV version of Pride & Prejudice and also in the 2005 film production with Keira Knightley.

Now, Roy has a screen credit at IMDB prior to WDTW - a TV play called The Train Set:

    The Train Set (1961) (TV)

Roy is the only cast member credited, but my parents tell me that they distinctly remember this being broadcast. They remember it being set in the West Midlands/Birmingham area - which IMDB confirms - and the accents and everything. They also remember that Robert Shaw was in it, but so far I can't find it in any of his screen credits. Another lost gem, I expect.

I'd love to see The Train Set. That sounds great. Just hope it exists.

I'm afraid our response to MarkO's query about Roy Holder has (unintentionally) turned this into a thread for the actor. Unless he has one already, could it be created from the last few posts? Just a suggestion!
