As far as I can remember. A women gets attacked possibly by her boss and decides to join a gun club. She becomes highly skilled at shooting and finally towards the end of the film decides to lure her attacker to the range to get her revenge.
Possibly Handgun aka Deep in the Heart (1983), directed by Tony Garnett.

Found this description of the film:
'Briefly, the plot involves a virginal, church-going, childlike, young, white woman living in Texas who is raped at gunpoint by a 'Texas-style' male chauvinist. She immediately cut all her hair off, adorns herself in black and learns to shoot better than any of the 'old boys' at the gun club. In the final scene, she lures the rapist to the shooting range.....'

I would agree that it is Handgun.

Also, ahem, "inspired" by Bo Arne Vibernius' Swedish exploitation classic THRILLER:EN GRYM FILM aka THEY CALL HER ONE EYE (1977).
Is that the same Tony Garnett who directed the legendary low-budget Brumsploiter PROSTITUTE (1978)?

I seem to remember this film being shown on Channel 4 one weekday evening a long time ago. She dressed up in Wild West gear didn't she?
Wouldn't mind seeing this again, being a mad feminist, but nothing will top Day of the Woman in my opinion. She got her revenge alright!![]()

I recall HANDGUN being shown by the Beeb, on a Saturday or Sunday night in one of those series that intro's, like Moviedrome, where they could get away with showing films that in other slots might be problematic. It's okay, but nothing special.
By DAY OF THE WOMAN, I guess you're referring to I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, a somewhat more exploitative rape/revenge flick, that nevertheless does have its defenders. I would suggest MS 45 aka ANGEL OF VENGEANCE as being the best of the rape/revenge films, and by fair its director's best film, though I've not revisited it for several years.
