If that were routinely the case then presumably there would be no lost programmes! How many home vcrs were there in the 1960s? I thought it was only a few thousand - were many owned by actors?
In the "British Theatre" thread, blacknorth says that the BBC play was later "wiped".
Clutching at straws perhaps......but would not scriptwriter Simon Gray, or at least one member of cast and crew, have routinely kept a video for their own portfolio ?
Simon Ward appeared in both television production and stage version (which I saw at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, in March, 1971).
