A soon to retire butcher always told me never buy meat which has been pre merinaded, sauced etc. all it does is disguise bad cuts of meat. It's a trick often used by the supermarkets or poor butchers.

Similarly, never buy anything based on chicken from Tesco. They are the only major retailer who still relies heavily on chicken, and they only use the worst grade of birds available in all of their prepared products. Even most of the whole chickens that they sell are still the stringy, tasteless old birds that nobody else will sell.

If you're on a tight budget it's better to go vegetarian than to eat that. At least save up and buy a decent bird once a week, or once a month

Thanks Edward, I have just switched over, I didn't even realise that it was on Sky.

The commentators are looking back over the reign of QEII. But today I think that should be the rain of Queen Elizabeth

Delighted to hear that the pathetic group of anti Royalists who had gathered to make a noisy protest and try to spoil everyone's pleasure were drowned out by the thousands of loyal subjects who sang the National Anthem.

I agree:the litter in this country is disgraceful - no excuse for it whatsoever! It should be an ongoing campaign! Litterbugs should be heavily fined and made to go "wombling"!

It could be seen that way I guess, but for me the fact it was 'created' for the Coronation is my reason for imbibing, I guess in the old days one would have had to make it oneself, but as I can't cook the cartons available will do for me (and I never shop Tesco!)

Lol Steve, I did wonder what the correct spelling was, whether 'bare' or 'bear', but bear sounded too animal like so I thought it was bare when one has to endure something, I appreciate the correction.

Typical, and that's what our flippin' Licence fee goes towards, honestly!............I enjoyed watching the Pageant, the Queen (and Prince Philip) stood for all that time, not once did they use the 'thrones' constructed on the Spirit of Chartwell, just goes to show how dedicated she is, looking forward to tomorrow's and Tuesday's events, I shall be glued to it all yet again!

I thought the "pageant" was one of the most seriously tedious things I have ever had the misfortune to witness...

Nope, just expressing my opinion. I thought we were allowed to?

PS - I do NOT need to "grow up" as you put it. I am fully grown. & don't you EVER forget it sir/madam.

No, but you said we needed an ongoing campaign. We already have one.
You said it needs to fine and punish people for littering. Local authorities and police already have that power.
Yet still people drop litter. What else can we do?

CPRE also runs a big anti-littering campaign in the countryside. That's not much more effective

Keep Britain Tidy has been running since 1955 - that means it's been thought that it was needed since then.
It isn't just a recent problem

Must admit the sight of the totally drenched choir singing Land of Hope and Glory was very moving and I supect will become one of the enduring images of the pageant.
