Came across this very good site.
http://www.nickelinthemachine.com/2009/07
Concerned only with London it contains photos and information on the places, actors, characters, news and films in the post war Capital.
Examples are Errol Flyn, Diana Dors, Performance, Keith Moon., etc
Dip your toe in, very worth while.

Pleasure, what I like about it is it is up to date and some of the links are interesting as well, Faded London is one I've had a quick look at.
Freddy
Thanks for the link Freddy, a nostalgia site i was unaware of, some very interesting photos and stories there, i'll be reading the articles all day if i'm not careful!..........some nice early pics of Susannah York at home in there too, i was only aware previously of what she looked like from the mid-60's onwards.![]()
What an excellent, interesting and entertaining site - thanks, Freddy![]()
I thoroughly agree...surprised I haven't come across it before on my googles.
Thanks chaps

A lot of my finds are through Google images. This one I was looking for a photo of Tiny Ross who played with Morton Fraser's Harmonica Gang. It was there I saw the old b/w of Ross and Norris McWhirter which you will see on the Nickel blog.

Thanks, an excellent and compelling site.....
Blimey, that's a memory jerker. I saw the Morton Fraser Harmonica Gang on stage and heard Prince Monolulu shouting "I gotta a horse". The two markets I remember were Petticoat Lane and Club Row. All I need now is the sound of a barrel organ! Thanks, Freddy.
The reason for looking for Tiny Ross is I believe this is him. It was taken from the short film Les Bicyclettes de Belsize. One of my friends agreed and has sent this to his Dad who was on a show with them many years back,
Freddy
This isn't a very good copy but the photo of the Morton Fraser Harmonica Gang is taken from "Roy Hudd's Cavalcade of Variety Acts"

Thanks for that Sonny, good of you to get it scanned. As you say, there are precious few photos of the gang and they all seem older than I remember them. When I get confirmation I'll put it on here.
Incidentally the girl in the image is Judy Huxtable who was married to Peter Cook.

Brilliant site.. err.. i'm kinda stuck on there just looking at random tags. a great way to spent a rainy sunday afternoon
Another Nickel In the Machine
This month there is mention of Charles Laughton and his first film performance and a connection of Fawlty Towers and the Cafe de Paris.
