Could be Hammer's Taste of Fear?
Could anyone help me with the name of this film please ?
I remeber seeing it in the 60's. A black and white movie. Cant remember any actors, but the only thing that has stuck in my mind ( as it scared me so much ), was a scene where a young black haired female enters a sunhouse , or greenhouse during a stormy night and finds her father / grandfather ? sat in a chair dead .She later goes back with others and hes not there .
I vaguely recollect that it was some kind of scam to drive her mad ????
I also vaguely recollect a body in a disused swimming pool as well
please help
many thanks

Could be Hammer's Taste of Fear?
Sounds like Taste of Fear/Scream of fear. This was shown on BBC a few weeks ago and is avaiulable as part of a hammer R1 DVD box set called Icons of Horror.
If I recall correctly, the setting was a smart villa situated on the hills overlooking Nice or Cannes. There was certainly a murder ( a menage a trois possibly) and quite a bit of intrigue as well.
It was an English film with a dash of France, understandably as it was set there.
That's all I can remember, I believe it would have been sixties and black and white.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

Many thanks everyone, pretty sure its Taste of Fear with the bonus of recalling The Greengage Summer.
Wow you certainly know your stuff. It's funny years ago I had quite a list of films that I thought would never materialise again and any way I didn't have the titles or even the whole plot to hand so thought that was the end of it.
Then I joined the Britmovie forum and thanks to members have laid almost all of them to rest. Almost!
Thanks again
So, not That Riviera Touch then?![]()
No, but thanks and another one I will be looking out for. By the way does anyone know the locations for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels?

Thanks for the info. I have actually spent some time in the area and would love to revisit but probably couldn't afford it until the exchange rate improves!

STOPOVER FOREVER (1964) ? filmed on Malta.....
I was gpoing to suggest ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE, with its excellent opening credits showing the boat cruising along the coast of the riviera (or was it maybe a river leading into it?) to the sound of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. A film I'd love to see again!!
However, once I saw that the film was black and white, TASTE OF FEAR is what sprung to my mind too. Definitely the correct answer, I would say.

There was of course, "Moment to Moment", 1965 murder mystery amongst the well-to-do's on the French Riviera. Directed by Mervyn LeRoy even! But his was a color jobbe not black and white. Having said that, Eastman Color always looked a bit washed out after a few goes through a projector![]()
With a brilliant theme tune by Henry Mancini I believe, later covered superbly by underrated tenor saxophonist Junior Cook!! What is it with jazz and rivieras?

Yes, Jack. Another Mancini superlative. The jazz and riviera thread can be added to with Lalo Schifin's "The Liquidator"![]()
