When I was at Primary school (1950's) we were shown a short film of a fictional new town in England. It featured people of everyday life. I can't recall it all but there was a sequence in the middle where they went into a dream world before returning to normality at the end. It was a very short film but held me spellbound at a very early age. Unfortunately, I can't remember much of the details.

Was it called "Going Shopping in Birmingham?" Except for "dream world" read "nightmare".
