A woman finds another buried alive

I remember watching one of those old murder mystery suspense thrillers back in the 80's. The one I remember was shown in July 1985 one saturday night on LWT. It was very creepy and gave me nightmares at the time. I remember that a woman was released from a mental home and sees a dog digging at the ground near her house. She can hear moaning coming from under the ground and runs home screaming to her house where nobody believes her. We can see a woman buried under the ground covered in mud. I never caught the end of the film and would love to know if the buried woman was rescued or did she run out of air.
