An associate on another site, has been collecting images of lovely ladies from Hammer Films for a few years and has come across two which he has not labelled in any way, he has no idea of the name of either actress or films they appeared in.

He thinks the shots are of the same woman, but others are not so sure. He thinks they are bit players as he feels he has excluded any major roles.

I wonder if they could be from either Hammer House of Horror and/or Mystery instead of a full film.

Any of you wonderful people have an idea.

The lady in question has now been identified as Olga Anthony, she did appear in Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter for Hammer but quite far down the list. However the shots of her are from The Mutations she's a student who is in the lectures of Donald Pleasance who later falls into the clutches of Tom Baker and isturned into one of the sideshow freaks.

I grabbed this screen from my copy of the film.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I have interesting news about Olga, wearysloth.

Daily Mirror article, 13th September 1972

"Kronos" is obviously Captain Kronos, which you have a capture from in your Actors Compendium profile, but that reference to The Vampire Lovers is significant because it's missing from her filmography*. It premiered 4th October 1970 - a month before Scars of Dracula (currently her first credit).

The cast of The Vampire Lovers includes an Olga James. I find it highly unlikely that the black American singer who appeared in Otto Preminger's Carmen Jones would turn up in a Hammer production 16 years later! If anyone has this film, would they mind looking for a 'Village Girl' who resembles our subject? It's my guess that Olga James is either her maiden name or original stage name.

Had she not been identified here, Olga would have been a classic subject at 'Unknown Dolly Birds'. Articles like these are proving more than useful. Her namesake Olga Linden, with whom I have recently corresponded, has had several more credits added thanks to the Mirror and Express archives - and to me, of course.

    Re: Olga Anthony.

Olga was quite a regular in the tabloids through the 1970s, and that has actually proved useful in finding more about her. The Daily Mirror in 1971 said that her father was a Russian dancer and her mother a Polish singer. I thought at first that Olga was perhaps born abroad and then raised in the UK. Now I think she was actually born here.

I found a birth record for an Olga Antonovitch who was born in London in early 1947 - the mother's surname is given as Baryshnikova. These names sound Russian/Polish and a D.O.B. of 1947 seems about right for "our" Olga. I reckon it is her and that she anglicised her surname when she entered show biz.

Olga says that she started off as a tennis player but felt she wasn't good enough to turn professional, so became a model and actress instead. In 1979 the Daily Express reported that she had at one time been the companion of movie producer Nat Cohen and in fact she did appear in several of his films. The same DE article said that Olga had just got married in the The Bahamas to record producer Matt Lang. Well, the DE got the name slightly wrong. They meant Robert "Mutt" Lange:

    Who later married:

    Singer Shania Twain

During her marriage to Lange, Olga entered the music industry herself and in the 1980s managed the rock band Romeo's Daughter. Robert and Olga lived in a glamorous house in Chelsea where they held lavish parties. Apparently they were quite opposite in character - Olga was very sociable and outgoing, Robert more reticement and a man who lived for his work. Olga wanted children, Robert didn't. They seem to have divorced around the mid-80s. Olga kept the Chelsea house and was certainly still living there till a few years ago (and maybe still is).

I'm getting the details about Olga and Robert from Shania Twain: The Biography by Robin Eggar, 2010.

You can read an extract which features Olga here:

Belated thanks to wearysloth and Euryale. Is Mr. Lange Still the One for Shania? Not any more. His Wikipedia page states they divorced in 2010.

    Daily Express, 25th April 1972

An article that's sure to interest Mikey! Was "How Much
Is That in Guineas?" a working title or an unmade film?:
