It was actually shot in CinemaScope, which is 2.35:1, or 21 x 9.
I have the Columbia EP of The Boys by The Shadows on SEG 8193. Oddly, the title track was released on a single in Australia and went to number on on the Hit Parade.
I see the DVD of 'The Boys' is being released on October 19th by Simply Media, does anybody know this company as I'm concerned that the DVD may be in 1:33 and not 16:9 as it was originally shot, It's a great movie and features music by 'The Shadows' and those of a certain age may remember the EP record of the music by The Shadows.

Not much of a guide but the recent BBFC pass stated that it was in 'widescreen'; if it's correct OAR, if it's anamorphic, we'll have to wait and see.
Thanks for this I hadn't realised it was in Cinemascope .......well fingers crossed for the correct ratio DVD ........Yes I also have the Columbia EP which was a big seller in 1962.
I'm looking forward to this one. I already have a 16:9 recording from BBC4 but an anamorphic cinemascope release would be much better :)
I'm hoping that if the BBC showed a widescreen print then it's available out there for the DVD companies, I just hope they don't transfer an old pan and scan.
the company releasing it is called SIMPLY MEDIA. Heres a contact at the company who should be able to help.

Many thanks for this email address Paul I'll drop them a line and report back if I get a reply.
I have received a reply from Simplymedia and it's good news :
I’m afraid Richard’s email address forwards straight to me so if you could let all those know at Britfilm I’d be very grateful.
The Boys is a buy-in to our catalogue from Renown Pictures and they would have produced the DVD. Renown have confirmed that their version is in a 16x9 ratio.
I hope that helps.
