thanks for that i have been waiting for the publication of this book.Who would have ever thought sitting in the stalls in the ABC or Odeon in the 50s and 60s looking at some crime film starring Russell Napier or Charles Tingwall that one day a book would be issued by the BFI on these type of films.
Excellent news that this volume will soon be in our hands - been waiting a while for this. Just ordered the hardback version.

It's about the post- Quota Quickie period. The first book was very readable so I have high hopes for this one especially are the author will have been able to interview more survivors
This is the first book to provide a thorough examination of the British 'B' movie, from the war years to the 1960s. The authors draw on archival research, contemporary trade papers and interviews with key 'B' filmmakers to map the 'B' movie phenomenon both as artefact and as industry product, and as a reflection on their times.
Great stuff, it's in the Amazon cart.
Just had to mention that Brian McFarlane has co-authoured this one and he was working on it for a long time too.
And yes, that is a dandy cover.
