Back in the 1970's a book on B movies said every old studio had a blooper reel, but the only one known to exist was one from Monogram, which included outtakes from the non Monogram My Man Godfrey with Carole Lombard swearing profusely. I guess since then the WB has shown up and it's great to see all those familiar faces (mostly) screwing up.

Warners 'blooper reel' was apparently shown to studio staff every year at their various Christmas parties.

There is a Laurel and Hardy blooper reel called 'That's That' in existence, i haven't seen it but it has been shown at conventions. It was put together by Hal Roach editor, Bert Jordan as a present for Stan, it's currently in the possession of Stan's daughter Lois.

Warning: watching Warner Brothers blooper reels on YouTube can become addictive!

    My favourite (cobbled together) compilation:

Though there are lots of other great clips out there. I think I read somewhere that James Cagney and Pat O'Brien used to fluff lines etc on purpose on the last day of a shoot so that it would overrun by a day and earn the crew some more money, though I don't know how true that is. Judging by the number of times Pat O'Brien turns up in the reels I don't think he had any control over it!

More studio bloopers. I think this is mainly from B picture studio, Monogram, but also has Lou Costello from Universal's Little Giant. Great opportunity to hear Boris Karloff curse.
