SPENDER, with Jimmy Nail as the star?

Been wracking my head trying to remember it. It aired on Showcase TV in canada in their first season, I think (1994). It was a crime drama, set in england, possibly ireland. But what I most remember is the star, wore a black leather jacket, had black curly long hair, and the most amazing large nose. I quite liked it and watched it all, but I cant remember the name!
Anyone remember the guy or the series?
