EyeForFilmAn underwater rescue mission is put into effect to find survivors on a stricken nuclear submarine which went down in unexplained circumstances. During the dangerous operation the crew find more than they expected in the deep abyssal trenches of the Atlantic Ocean.

Great adventure, albeit a bit long, and with some stand-out scenes.
A negative word has to be said about the treatment of the 2-disc Special Edition DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment: the fuzzy picture resembles nothing much better than a decent bootleg copy; and a non-anamorphic widescreen print as well? However, on the plus side it does contain both the Theatrical and the Special Edition of the film, along with a ton of extras including this brilliant documentary.
