Paul Schrader's remake of the horror classic has a style and eroticism all its own. Nastassja has never been prettier as that obscure object of desire. John Heard is wonderful and I lament the decline of his film career from here on. Annette O'Toole and Ed Begley jr. make the most of the supporting roles and finally there is a terrific score from disco King, Giorgio Moroder.
