The Couch Trip

1987

Michael Ritchie
Director
Orion Pictures
Production Company

An escaped mental patient claims the identity of the psychiatrist who is head of the institution, then proceeds to host a phone-in radio show in his name with enormous sucess due to his frank and uncensored advice.

One of the funniest, least-known films I have ever seen. Naturally it has its weak moments (a so-so subplot involving Walter Matthau as a drunken vagabond) but there are those few scenes (and Donna Dixon) which make up for it.
