The Duke hits hard times and has to travel 1000 Klms to sell his herd. His men take off for the gold fields and he has to turn to school children (boys) to help. Bruce Dern and co. offer to assist but the Duke is suspicious and refuses. Later on the drive there is a confrontation between Wayne and Dern. Wayne is killed Dern and company ride off with the herd . The cowboys have to grow up very quickly!
