| Which brings us to the film that really got the vampire thing going, Bela Lugosi recreates his stage role as the ultimate smoothie vampire, Count Dracula. From the opening strains of Swan Lake and beautifully photographed catacombs and crazy Renfield's mad cackle we are in the presence of a classic. It isn't scary and the theatrical acting is rough on a modern audience, but still better than the majority of vampire flicks that followed. See if you can impersonate Dwight Frye's maniacal laugh as you hand out those Halloween sweeties. |
