| Popeye Doyle's failure to capture heroin smuggler Charnier (Fernando Rey) fours years ago leads him to Marseille, France to hunt him down. So-so sequel, most noticable by Roy Scheider's absence (he was off filming some shark picture at the time) and a director who hadn't found his A game yet. Sscenes are poorly edited together with little suspense and lacking the same punch as the first film. And then there's that interminable cold turkey scene... See also The French Connection (1971) |
