Tommy Jarvis has 'escaped' from the mental institution (and changed into actor Thom Mathews!) and heads straight for Jason Voorhees' grave to prove once and for all that he is dead. After a spot of foolish gravedigging, Jason is resurrected (you wouldn't believe how) and makes his way back to the area familiar to him known as Crystal Lake (now affectionately referred to as 'Camp Blood' and officially re-named Forest Green). The young campers enjoying their summer vacation there are oblivious to what is lurking nearby in the forest.
More black humour than usual with the one, a definite upgrade from the last chapter (this one actually has Jason Voorhees in it!)
Alice Cooper provides two of the movie's best songs, He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask), and Teenage Frankenstein.
