One of the best comedies of the 80s, with a great concept and a wonderful ensemble cast. Highly recommended. Quickly followed by an excellent animated series, a so-so sequel, and an unnecessary reboot/remake thirty years later. Fun game: take a drink every time you see a can of Coke on screen, and you'll be blotto by the third reel. Much of the background info on deleted scenes, etc. is from Paul Rudoff's excellent Spook Central website, one of the most in-depth movie fansites I've ever seen. Any errors are mine alone, though. -Dave W. |
